CobbFendley was responsible for the engineering and design for over 11 miles of 20-inch high pressure pipeline aligned within an existing electric transmission corridor. This project will enhance capacity and system reliability for Southwest Metropolitan Houston. The design incorporated four mainline valves and two 8-inch lateral taps to tie into city gate stations. These tie-ins ensure efficient and safe distribution of gas, meeting the growing demand in the area.

Key services provided included conducting an aerial LIDAR survey, to collect aboveground visible data of overhead utility appurtenances, such as transmission towers, power poles, and bare-earth topography where feasible and aerial photogrammetry data collection, and performing subsurface utility engineering (SUE) for accurate placement and minimum disruption to existing infrastructure. The alignment within the transmission corridor was planned to optimized space and maintain safety standards. Our team’s expertise in pipeline engineering were pivotal in the successful completion of this enhancement project to Houston’s gas distribution network.
