CobbFendley provided engineering services to reconfigure and replace a 125-mile natural gas system located in Central Texas. The reconfiguration involved dividing the gas system into 5 non-contiguous subnetworks, each equipped with new gas supply points. Approximately 50 miles of existing pipeline were successfully kept in service, with 15 miles being replaced by new pipe. To ensure a smooth transition and supply of gas to the local distribution company and various commercial and industrial customers in Bastrop, Fayette, and Lavaca counties, five custody transfer meter and regulator stations were designed within the subnetwork system.
The predominately 6-inch pipeline was upgraded to accommodate the transportation of 12 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of natural gas. The necessary permits from US Corp of Engineers, Texas Railroad Commission, and TxDOT were acquired as part of the project scope. CobbFendley also provided additional services such as hydraulic analysis modeling, gas odorization study and design, route selection, survey and mapping, land and right-of-way (ROW) acquisition services, environmental assessment, construction drawings packages, permit drawing packages, construction phase engineering support, HCA mapping, procurement support, construction survey as-built and mapping, and project close-out.
