CobbFendley completed the design for a 700 foot maintenance road to access and remove an existing electrical transformer. The project also included drainage improvements to redirect runoff that was causing erosion issues at the site. Environmental coordination was required to remove an old oil pump house and the associated piping, which in the past had been used to supply fuel oil from a nearby railroad to the transformer.  Removal of the transformer and potentially the oil pump house was being completed by two different contractors with specialty experience. Good communication with the client was required to develop the appropriate project phasing schedule and avoid costly delays. CobbFendley completed final design drawings for the access road and drainage improvements and successfully coordinated all aspects of the design with the client’s project manager, environmental specialist, and project engineers. CobbFendley also developed creative design solutions to avoid impacts to a nearby detention pond.
