CobbFendley’s Group Leads are responsible for the management of a team of people within a Department, either client or discipline-focused. They have been integral to the success and continued growth of the Department.

Kristen Van Hoosier
What do you enjoy most about working at CobbFendley?
I value how CobbFendley has given me the flexibility to shape the culture here. The people here feel like family.
How has CobbFendley supported your professional growth and development?
I’ve not been one to say “I need this role or that opportunity.” My leadership here at CobbFendley has identified my strengths, nominated me for programs, and encouraged me to take on new challenges, and I’ve accepted them headstrong.
Outside of work, what are some of your favorite ways to recharge and find inspiration?
I enjoy teaching and taking group fitness classes outside of work. Helping people to feel accomplished, whether that’s through physical change, mental/stress relief, or being with community, brings me immense joy. The photo to the right is is me with Javi Holguin and Rachael Newton on my team when they came to my class.

CobbFendley’s Department Managers are responsible for strategy development, operations, training, and resources for their discipline within their local Region. They coach department staff in their professional development and are the glue that keeps their team together.

Johnston Tran
Can you share a bit about your journey at CobbFendley and how you’ve grown in your career?
I was privileged to be mentored during my career at CobbFendley by one of the founders (Bill Fendley), our CEO (Monica Silver) and longest tenured employee (Edgar Smith). All have shaped me into the person I am today. I consider myself organically groomed from being an engineer, to a leader within this wonderful firm.
What do you enjoy most about working at CobbFendley?
I enjoy the opportunities CobbFendley has provided for individuals like myself that is looking to make an impactful change in this community. Our goal should be to leave this place better than we found it and this is my avenue to make that come into fruition.
Outside of work, what are some of your favorite ways to recharge and find inspiration?
I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends. Whether it is traveling the world, being active via working out, or playing pickleball. Cobbfendley grants the work / life balance we need to be the best version of ourself.
Annie Berry
What does leadership mean to you, and how do you approach it in your role?
Leadership is finding that thing that makes people excited about work and letting them use it to its fullest potential. Sometimes people don’t realize what they are truly great at, and I love seeing that realization come to life.
What are you most excited about in this new leadership position?
I am excited for the opportunity to grow as an individual, but also for the opportunity to help others grow around me.
Robert Matson
What do you enjoy most about working at CobbFendley?
I absolutely enjoy my colleagues here at CobbFendley. We have created a culture that makes me want to come into the office every day. Weekends are still too short, but I look forward to seeing my colleagues every day. Besides that, It’s like legos for adults!! The feeling of connecting people and knowing you had a part in it is very rewarding.
How has CobbFendley supported your professional growth and development?
CobbFendley has allowed me the opportunity to be myself while guiding me through different phases of my professional career. From PM and emerging leader, to Associate, to Group Lead, now Department Manager. Every step of the way CobbFendley had programs, trainings and people, talking to me, providing input, giving positive feedback, and helping set the foundation to have success and growth within the company. All while being “ME”.

Kyle Sunday
Can you share a bit about your journey at CobbFendley and how you’ve grown in your career?
I originally started at CobbFendley after graduating college. Quickly, I noticed the professionalism of the leadership, family values and how they embraced mentorship. CobbFendley is a ‘home’ where I’ve been able to acquire knowledge of both business and geospatial technologies; more importantly, it is also a place where I have created a network of lifelong friendships. I am truly grateful for all the opportunity and support they have provided throughout my career.
How has CobbFendley supported your professional growth and development?
CobbFendley has always encouraged professional growth. We regularly host educational seminars for staff and encourage networking throughout the firm. Participating in these company events and having the opportunity to work directly with industry leaders, has allowed me to fulfill many career goals.
Outside of work, what are some of your favorite ways to recharge and find inspiration?
My favorite way to recharge, is to study for out-of-state licensure…ha, all kidding aside, my favorite way to recharge is by spending time with family and friends. Our kids keep us busy with school, sports, outdoor activities including hunting/fishing, and I thoroughly enjoy BBQing in cook-off competitions.
