Our Work
Water Main Improvements
Downtown
As part of a series of capital improvements to distribution mains, the City of Phoenix Water Services Department plans to replace a 2,600 LF section of substandard water main in the heart of downtown. To support the design of the new 12” water main, CobbFendley provided SUE services to accurately identify underground utilities within the project limits. The presence of multiple utilities serving downtown ultimately necessitated 46 Level A test holes to determine conflicts with the proposed design. This project also required extensive traffic control and barricading to accommodate excavation in the busy downtown area.
Roosevelt Avenue
CobbFendley assisted the City’s On-Call Engineer with developing PS&E for the replacement of a six-block section of water main in the historic Roosevelt neighborhood – an area at the center of downtown revitalization efforts. To support the design of the new 12” water main, CobbFendley provided SUE services to accurately identify underground utilities within the project limits. Once field crews designated and mapped 23,000 LF of utilities, CobbFendley provided the design engineer with updated existing utility information, which was then used to identify locations for test holes. The project’s location in a congested utility corridor ultimately necessitated 69 Level A test holes to determine conflicts with the proposed design.
