HOUSTON, TX – Cobb, Fendley & Associates, Inc. (CobbFendley) announced today Project Manager Joey Roberts, M.P.A., E.I.T., C.F.M. was nominated as the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) 2020 Young Engineer of the Year.
Mr. Roberts has six years of experience spanning public works, broadband design, subsurface utility engineering, GIS and utility coordination as a Project Engineer and Project Manager in CobbFendley’s Houston and Austin offices. Mr. Roberts has served as the Treasurer of the NSBE Houston Professionals chapter for three years where he’s fundraised over $125,000 during his tenure which has been funneled to over $60,000 in scholarships to engineering students in the Houston area. He’s also led CobbFendley’s Houston Canstruction Team for four years where his designs have led to the donation of over 18,500 canned goods to the Houston Food Bank. Mr. Roberts’ Canstruction designs have won Honorable Mention (2016), Best Professional Team (2018), and Structural Integrity (2019).
NSBE has more than 30,000 members worldwide with 310 collegiate student chapters and 88 professional chapters. NSBE’s Mission is to increase the number of black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.
