Our Work
IH 15 The Point Reconstruction
CobbFendley oversaw the coordination and design efforts to relocate 28 utility companies (both public and private) along 8.5 miles of IH 15 — a project nicknamed “The Point” because of its location. CobbFendley provided subsurface utility engineering (SUE) Quality Levels D, C, B and A services for the $215 million design-build project, which aimed to both alleviate congestion by adding lanes and upgrade the existing lanes to more durable pavement. CobbFendley’s Utah staff worked with design engineers to accurately identify utility locations, ultimately completing 110 test holes and providing Level B SUE location designation for 75,000 Linear Feet (LF) of identified utilities. In addition, the team performed 5,000 LF of Levels C and D SUE services through painstaking records research and verification. Our design package included the relocation of all utilities at Minuteman Drive, as well as conflict resolutions from the City of Lehi to Riverton City along IH 15, including joint trench alternatives.
