Our Work
Houston Super Bowl Small Cell Sites
CobbFendley entered into a contract with Zayo Group, LLC to assist with the turnkey implementation of Small Cell sites throughout the downtown Houston and into the inner loop areas. The firm provided project management, fiber design, electric service design, pole location permits, utility coordination, permit meetings/drawing reviews, City of Houston permitting, traffic control plans, downtown management coordination, lease 3rd party ducts and develop pole profiles. CobbFendley worked diligently with Zayo to make sure all designs were permitted so that all Small Cells could be up and running by Super Bowl 2017.
CobbFendley took the unique approach of utilizing existing duct systems. As the fourth largest city in the United States, CobbFendley already knew Houston’s congestion issues regarding utilities. Rather than trenching a new line, which would have led to road closures and massive traffic issues, CobbFendley inspected the existing duct system underground to see if spare lines were available. CobbFendley collaborated with other telecommunication companies to identify where available duct was located and approached gas distribution companies that had abandoned old gas pipes available for utilization. This unique approach of recycling infrastructure led to a more economical solution that saved CobbFendley’s client money and the City of Houston from severe traffic problems and street closures.
