Our Work
Harvey Structural Assessments
CobbFendley was asked by our client-base to perform various structural conditions assessments of bridges and piers that were potentially affected by Hurricane Harvey.
City of Missouri City
CobbFendley performed assessments for the Glenn Lakes Bridge Over Channel B and the Hampton Drive Bridge Over Oyster Creek. We documented excessive exposed pile lengths and scour issues. We provided the City our findings, recommendations and bridge replacement costs.
City of Clear Lake Shores
CobbFendley performed an assessment for the Clear Lake Road Bridge over Jarboe Bayou. As requested by TxDOT, we performed our assessment for the purposes of documenting the current channel conditions in TxDOT Form 2607 (Plan of Action Follow-Up) because the bridge was identified as scour critical and has a Scour Plan of Action in place. We provided our findings and recommended that the existing riprap be removed and replaced with Stone Protection Riprap.
City of Seabrook
CobbFendley performed an assessment for the 1,060 LF fishing pier at Pine Gulley Park. Inspections required a boat and were conducted 22 hours after our initial meeting with the City. We discovered missing stringer supports, missing bolt in main members, deteriorated members and improper use of nails in lieu of using bolts. After we performed our analysis, we determined that the bridge could not be opened to the public. We provided the City an Action Plan to repair the bridge in 3 stages, prior to opening, within the next 6 months and within the next 12 months.
