Our Work
District Engineering Services
CobbFendley is the District Engineer for Southern Montgomery Country Municipal Utility District (SMCMUD) and is responsible for the design of new infrastructure and rehabilitation projects, review of numerous development plans, general district engineering, attendance at monthly board meetings, and preparing bond applications for funding. As District Engineer, we work closely with the operator, attorney, and bookeeper on district projects.
A signature project designed by CobbFendley for SMCMUD is the Reclaimed Water Plant and Phase I Distribution System. The reclaimed water plant is located at the District’s wastewater treatment plant and includes booster pumps, a cloth disc filter, conversion of an abandoned clarifier into a ground storage tank, transfer pumps, a hydropneumatic tank, piping, and electrical upgrades. Approximately 21,250 linear feet of purple distribution piping was installed ranging from 2-inch diameter to 16-inch diameter. The reclaimed water system includes taps and meters for sale of the Type I reclaimed water to District residents and business owners within the Phase I area for irrigation and fire protection.
CobbFendley developed a WaterCad model of the reclaimed water system in order to assist a developer with design of a private fire suppression system. Phase II of the distribution system will extend service to several neighborhoods and commercial areas. It includes 17,000 linear feet of water line ranging from 2-inch to 12-inch diameter. CobbFendley coordinated with over 10 agencies for approval of the construction drawings, and provided surveying, SUE, design, bidding and construction administration services.
