Our Work
Capitol Complex and North Austin Complex
The Texas Facilities Commission (TFC) is implementing Phase 1 of the Master Plans at both the Capitol Complex (CapCom) and the North Austin Complex (NAC). The TFC selected the CobbFendley team to provide professional engineering services as the Site Services Engineer (SSE) for the following projects.
Capitol Complex (CapCom) Projects:
The Capital Complex includes approximately 1 million square feet of office space, a five-level below grade parking structure, expansion to the Central Utility Plant (CUP), a walkable utility tunnel, and the conversion (Street Vacation) of Congress Avenue from 16th Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard into the pedestrian-only Texas Mall.
North Austin Complex (NAC) Projects:
The North Austin Complex includes a 400,000 square foot office building with an above-ground parking structure for approximately 2,400 passenger vehicles.
The CobbFendley team’s scope includes the following services, some already complete and some still underway:
Site Development; Surveying, Utility Coordination; Environmental and Cultural Resources Support; Geotechnical Services; City of Austin Permitting; and Traffic Impact Analysis (TIA).
These efforts have been sequenced to support the efforts of the Master Architect and Construction Manager Agent working on the CapCom projects, and the A/E team working on the NAC projects. The CobbFendley team realizes the success of the overall project requires the collaborative integration of all the teams working with TFC to deliver these projects that will transform the City of Austin.
Additional responsibilities as prime consultant include serving as Engineer of Record (EOR) for the Excavation Package, and EOR for the Utilities Package. As subconsultant, CobbFendley serves as the civil engineering Third Party Review for the NAC and is the civil engineering design lead on the Central Utility Plant (CUP) and Tunnel teams.
