CobbFendley's expansion continues with three new office locations. Angleton, Texas; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Tempe, Arizona are the latest additions to CobbFendley's growth in the municipal, transportation and utility markets.

Josh Canuteson, R/W-NAC, SR/WA joins CobbFendley's Frisco office as North Texas Right-of-Way Manager. Josh's experience as a dedicated Right-of-Way Specialist, innovative project manager, and proficient negotiator on notable transportation projects will be instrumental in the further development and growth of CobbFendley's Right-of-Way Acquisition work in North Texas.

R.D. Bishop, P.E., LEED AP joins CobbFendley's West Jordan office as Area Manager. R.D. worked on the program management team of the Utah Transit Authority's (UTA) 2015 Program for light rail and streetcar line improvements. He has also served as a Utility Coordinator and has provided design services for numerous projects throughout Utah. R.D. will be instrumental in the management of operations, which includes the recently awarded Point Project for UDOT. 

Kimberly McDaniel , P.E. joins CobbFendley's Baton Rouge office as Project Manager. A transportation specialist, Kimberly will support CobbFendley's Transportation/Traffic, Engineering, Surveying, Subsurface Utility Engineering, and Utility Coordination and Design projects throughout the State of Louisiana.

Utility Team Clears the Way for Construction | April 2014
We proudly recognize our Grand Parkway Utility Team members, including Project Utility Design Coordinator Vineeta Jayaram, P.E., Yuki Williams, P.E., and our talented staff of utility specialists, as they clear 38 miles of roadway for construction of Segments F1, F2 and G of SH 99 in Houston, Texas. Under the guidance of Vineeta Jayaram, the team’s conflict analysis and design work kept pace with roadway design and the team was able to reduce the potential 600 utility conflicts to less than 150 utility relocations. CobbFendley Wins Top Honors at CANstruction | November 2013
CobbFendley is proud to be the recipient of the Juror’s Favorite and People’s Choice awards for their can-structure created for the Houston CANstruction event benefitting the Houston Food Bank. Utilizing 4,300 cans, CobbFendley constructed an eight-foot tall owl who proudly declared “Whooooo Says We Can’t End Hunger?” CobbFendley’s structure will compete in the National CANstruction competition in 2014.

CobbFendley SUE Technicians Place in International Utility Locate Rodeo | August 2013
CobbFendley’s Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) technicians competed in the International Utility Locate Rodeo after placing first in all four categories of the Texas Utility Locate Rodeo. At the International event, where participants utilized their utility locating tools and skills to navigate a course with multiple hidden utilities, CobbFendley placed first in the water division and third in the gas division. The International Utility Locate Rodeo is the preeminent event for Utility Locate Technician recognition, and serves as the cornerstone to promote high quality and achievable industry standards.

CobbFendley Expands to Utah | July 2013
CobbFendley has expanded the firm to include a new office in Utah. The engineering office will provide Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) services and serve as Utility Subject Matter Experts to public and private clients, including the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT). As a leading SUE provider in Texas and New Mexico, CobbFendley is now able to provide these services in Utah using the Air Vacuum Excavation trucks that are owned and operated by the firm.  John Miner, E.I.T., has joined the regional CobbFendley team and will assist in the development of Utah operations. With a background of successfully completing projects for UDOT, Utah County, and various local entities, Mr. Miner will be instrumental in growing CobbFendley’s presence in Utah.

CobbFendley is excited to be ranked as a Top Design Firm by ENR Southwest, which ranks those firm conducting business in Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico. CobbFendley’s Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) technicians were awarded first place honors in all four categories of the Texas Utility Locate Rodeo. CobbFendley placed first in the electric, gas, telecommunications and water categories where participants utilized their utility locating tools and skills to navigate a course with multiple hidden utilities. All four CobbFendley winners advanced to the International Utility Locate Rodeo which will occur on July 27, 2013 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Outstanding Engineer of the Year - William (Bill) Fendley, P.E., RPLS | May 2013
The Texas Society of Professional Engineers (TSPE) has selected Bill Fendley as the 2013 Outstanding Engineer of the Year. Mr. Fendley will be honored by his peers in the engineering community at the TSPE Annual Convention on June 20th . The TSPE Engineer of the Year Award is the highest honor given to an individual TSPE member and is in recognition of engineers whose sustained and unusual contributions have improved the public welfare and the advancement of his/her profession.

CobbFendley announced the appointment of Dale Conger, P.E. as CobbFendley’s President effective on April 8, 2013. Mr. Conger brings more than 37 years of engineering and management experience to his new role having previously served as Vice President of CobbFendley. Mr. Conger replaces Allen Watson, P.E. who will officially retire in June, 2013 to pursue travel and personal hobbies. “Just as the engineering industry is constantly evolving, so is CobbFendley. I look forward to working with every CobbFendley employee as we continue to offer expanded services in new markets,” said Mr. Conger.

CobbFendley is pleased to announce the addition of several new employees throughout our office locations.
Mark Urback, P.E., joins CobbFendley’s Houston office to lead our Water and Wastewater Plant Engineering Services. Mark has more than 24 years of experience in water and wastewater engineering, environmental engineering, process engineering, civil/structural engineering and project management.  His experience and capabilities with permitting, design, and construction of water and wastewater treatment facilities for municipal wastewater, industrial process wastewater and stormwater will strengthen CobbFendley’s municipal engineering services for public and private clients.
L.A. “Bud” Thompson, RPLS, is CobbFendley’s new Central Texas Survey Manager. Bud has 32 years of professional land surveying experience with over 20 years as sole proprietor of Thompson Surveying Company. He has a strong background in large commercial, industrial and petroleum facility surveys, municipal survey project management, including geographic information systems for infrastructure management and transportation systems (airport and highway). In addition, Mr. Thompson has extensive experience with county right-of-way and flood plain management watershed surveys in cooperation with FEMA, including design and implementation of primary and secondary survey control for vertical control monumentation in support of FEMA Federal Insurance Rate Maps.
Steven Cardenas joins CobbFendley as the Subsurface Utility Engineering Business Development Manager. Steven has 14 years experience with utility locating and non-destructive excavation for public and private clients, and will be instrumental in expanding CobbFendley’s Subsurface Utility Engineering services. In addition to his operational and management experience, Steven is skilled in Safety Training to include OSHA and DOT regulations.

CobbFendley Licensed State Land Surveyor Appointed to TBPLS | February 2013
Bill Merten, RPLS, LSLS, CobbFendley Associate and Project Surveyor, has been appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to the Texas Board of Professional Land Surveying as the Licensed State Land Surveyor Board Member. Bill will serve a 6-year term and join the other board members in administering the licensing, examination and laws that govern Texas Surveyors. “Bill’s expertise and dedication to the field of surveying has led to this outstanding achievement that is indicative of Bill’s commitment to the industry,” said Stephanie Funk, Vice President and Corporate Survey Manager.

Julie Hastings, P.E., MBA, joins CobbFendley’s Austin office as Central Texas Regional Municipal Manager. Julie has more than 14 years of project engineering and project management experience, including a strong background designing water distribution and wastewater collection systems for capital improvements projects. Her experience involves water distribution system analysis, preliminary engineering studies, engineering plans and specifications design, construction cost estimating, and construction management services. Julie will be instrumental in the further development and growth of CobbFendley’s municipal work in the Central Texas region.
